An application was officially made in writing on 12-06-2013, regarding nomination and appointment of Mr. Orhan Hikmet Azizoglu for the role and title of Cultural Envoy and National UN Goodwill Ambassador, through a letter bearing signatures of 205 scholars, mostly consisting of presidents of universities from 14 countries, by mediation of the Foreign Ministry of the Turkish Republic, to UNESCO by the Permanent Representative of Turkey to the United Nations.

* Undertook and successfully accomplished the academic organisation of and presided a workshop on “National Values, Concepts, Beliefs and Cultures in Internationalisation of Higher Education”, held with participation of 400 University Presidents and Academic Staff from 105 countries in Ankara, Turkey.

* Participated in and presided several workshops, conferences, academic and scientific efforts and organisations of universities in Afghanistan, on invitation of the central government.

* Assisted enrolment and attendance by tens of thousands of undergraduates in Mosul, Tal Afar, Diyala, Anbar, Tikrit and elsewhere under occupation of terrorist organisations in courses offered by saved Arab and Kurdish universities through well rounded meetings with H.E. Minister of Higher Education and presidents of Arab and Kurdish universities in Erbil of Iraq, and led numerous academic efforts focused around contributing to higher education therein with participation of scholars in thousands from colleges of Turkey and TRNC.

* Contributed to securing and expanding opportunities for ten thousand undergraduates to take courses in a meeting of presidents at the University of Kirkuk.

* Attended and made valuable inputs to a meeting on seeking solutions to ongoing problems of scholars and pupils of universities in territories occupied by the terrorist organisation in Iraq, convened at International Universities Council Headquarters in Ankara, with broader participation of Iraqi Arab and Kurdish university presidents and a solution-oriented meeting attended by the chief councillor of Higher Education.

* Presided and helped elaboration of final declaration to the world community at the end of the democracy and terrorism workshop participated by 50 university presidents from 15 countries in an International Regional Meeting held in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

* The aforementioned workshops and conferences which were organised and chaired by Mr. Orhan Hikmet Azizoglu shed glowing light upon his homestead and adjacent territories for the strengthening of Higher Education in the Geography of Islam and its level equalisation with European and western communities, through academic co-operations, joint academic endeavours and student and scholar exchanges.
