Orhan Hikmet Azizoğlu, Founding President of the International Universities Council, paid a study visit to Northern Iraq on 12-16 December 2020. During the visit, Azizoglu held face-to-face meetings with the Minister of Local Activities of Northern Iraq Regional Government Aydın Maruf, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Iraq Prof. Dr. Fuad Muhammad, Arbil Consul General of Turkey Hakan Karaçay, Turkey Iraq Regional Administration Officer Dr. Abdulsalam Raşit, our Board Member Prof. Dr. Ahmad Anwar Dezaye, Academic Board Member and al-Kitap University Rector Prof. Dr. Ayad Ghany Ismail, Rector of Nineveh University Prof. Dr. Osama al-Maşhadany, Rector of Northern Technical University Prof. Dr. Alya Abbas As'ad el-Attâr, Rector of Saladin University Prof. Dr. Jawhar Fattâh, al-Hamdaniya University Rector Prof. Dr. Aqil Yahya Hashem al-A’racy, Kirkuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Sabah Ahmad Ismael and the Deputy Rector of Nur University Yasin Taha al-Hajjar.
Orhan Hikmet Azizoğlu also gave information to the Anatolian Agency (AA) about the work of the International Universities Council in Erbil.
During this visit, Azizoğlu also had an online meeting with the Rector of Baghdad University Dr. Moneer Hamed al-Sadi. It was decided at this meeting of the Turkey-Iraq universities meetings twice a year. One of these meetings will be held in Turkey and the other in Iraq. The Council continues the preliminary preparations necessary for the conduct of the aforementioned meetings
